Hey guys just had a question. I hired someone on Shapeways to make a 3d design for me. The issue is when i upload it to Rhino the measurements are a little different and the designer says that is normal. I have added an attachment so you know what i mean.

Is this normal ? Thanks.

Rhino should be accurate,

deformation because you open it in another CAD program is a bit silly, it could have some differences between files, but only scaled deformation,

you normally should be able to create a box around it, and scale/stretch it to the correct proportions, but these differences in an intersection of a model is not something that could/should happen.

What kind of file was supplied that you opened in Rhino ?

Thanks for the reply. I imported it from 3D builder. Maybe i can send you the file and you could tell me the dimensions ?

Indeed, if just a smal part of the design is different than it’s most likely a design error by the designer probably. Otherwise if the whole object is out of scale could it be a solution to do the math and to apply a “uniform scale” on the whole object? What software did he make the design in? Could it be inches versus Millimeters? And selecting a wrong checkbox during importing or exporting the file (him or you)? … gr. Frank

Hey.
Accuracy at 1-10 micron occurs when transferring files from one program to another. Accuracy of 0.25 is a lot. Whose mistake))
For correct operation is better to use the same program.

Ya actually it is very close to the size it is supposed to be and we are both using mm. I think he used 3ds max. It opened on my laptop on 3d builder since i use windows 10. I imported it to Rhino to see the dimensions but he is tell me they are wrong.

Turns out i was right and the guy was wrong, i got someone to fix it. Thanks for the help guys.

Your welcome, I even tried to measure it for you in Fusion360 as you can see …something went wrong with designing. Good luck …
