Hello, I have zero experience with 3d printing…
I would like to know if the quality of 3d printing is good enough to create video-game cartridges (like the one of Atari 2600, ColecoVision, C64, …) in ABS plastic?
thanks in advance!

That should be possible, of course the case would have to be modeled in a CAD programm first as the models most likely don’t exist at the moment.
You’d have to look out for hubs that offer 3d modeling and 3d printing on a decently large printer.
I own a Creatr HS with a buildvolume of 29x27x18cm so that should be enough for the case I guess.
Do you want the box just as decor or should it keep the original electronics or is it intended as a box for storage purpose ?
Contact me by clicking on the icon below, if you’d like to discuss this in more detail.
I do offer CAD modeling and 3d printing in all sorts of materials.
Cheers,

It should look and feel as the original and handle the electronic too. I guess the original products was mass produce using plastic injection in mold.
Currently, I am gathering information to see if the project can be done…

As long as the measurements for the electronics and the dimensions of the case can be found online that should be possible. I can offer a huge variety of colors and materials to match the original ones. Additionally acetone smoothing, filling, sanding, and spray painting are possible with my hub, that all should make for a detailed replication. Only textures are usually too complex to print.
