I am in need of plastic replacement lens for my 1985 Goldwing. I have been told that 3D printing will be the only way to get them. I still have one good lens. Can you enlighten me on if you may be able to help? This is now to me. Thanks.

Hey Mark, The next steps for you would be to either 3D design or scan the one you have and then replicate it with a 3D printer. If you don’t know how to do something like that , in the 3D Hubs search you can filter Hubs that have indicated that they can do scanning or designing services and they might be able to help you out

Hi Mark

The way to go for this is vacuum casting! We would use your original as a pattern and make a silicone mould tool and cast in a clear PU, (pre-tinted if a coloured lens)

Feel free to get in touch.

Best regards

I too back the casting idea given there’s still a good one to work with. Even with the super clear PETs, FFF 3D printing won’t result in a nice light lens unless it’s designed to be super diffuse.
