Can anyone help I would like to make a RC Airplane that can level and land automatically. I need to print it a strong material like Carbon Fiber or something like that. Any designs and engineers and other hobbyist are greatly appreciated. It possible one finished I will sell the parts and stl files on line and assembly instructions or a kit.
Thanks

I made a drone quadcopter and I use a kk2.1 board for its self leveling and I’m pretty sure that you can program it to do a plane, how big would the wing span be? what do you plan on doing with it like acrobatic or long distance?
the wing span is maybe 1-2 feet

A wing span of 1 to 2 feet will NOT deliver a long distance airplane. you will need to create a bunch of free lift to get an endurance craft.
for auto land you will need a more sophisticated controller than a KK2 board as well. something along the lines of an APM or a pixhawk would get it done but each one would require a good deal of programming and the end user would need to be quite knowledgeable in order to get good results.
I fly a PixHawk in a multirotor and an airplane and must say that it is the right tool for auto land and running autonomous routes. However, they do require that i input all of the relevant data and waypoints beforehand.
This automation will require that your craft have a barometer, a GPS device as well as a good compass. And even with all that, a barometer and GPS do not always peg your altitude correctly which can result in what i can only call a “variable landing”
Also keeping track of the altitude at the landing point is hard because within 5 to 10 feet you can have a variance of easily 5 to 10 feet of elevation so you must carefully map out a landing zone that has adequate margins on all sides in order to land. there are very few solutions that i would call consumer ready for auto land in situations other than what would be classified as “ideal” such as a landing strip or a flat abandoned road.

I print a lot of RC. I specialize in functional materials including two different carbon fiber filaments. Let me know if you have any questions or need any help with your project. You can see some pictures on my hub: https://www.3dhubs.com/miami/hubs/mindfull and my email is mindfull@mindfullsolutions.com
Good luck!
