Is there a way to add a raft under the supports only? I have a relatively flat project that has a small part of it elevated that needs supports. I don’t need a raft under the whole project, just the supports.

Thank you,

Todd

Hello,

There are ways to do this:

1. Simplify 3D the new version 4 offers to construct a full layer (100% infill) under the support.

2. You can use an auxiliary 3D model (a small square or a small circle) with 0.2mm high (or what you want) and a small dimension on X and Y that you can scale as you need it and place it under your support. This is a lot of micromanagement and manually placing in the slicer software, but it does ensure good adhesion and stability for your support structure and a “safe” print so the extra work can pay off.

For better understanding, find the picture attached and the actual 3D models that can help on the support.

Hope this helps

The new S3D does make this better. One thing I have done in the past as a quick helper is to change the skirt/brim distance until it is under the support and then give it a few extra outlines. Doesn’t always work but can be a quick helper.
