I have the XYZprinting da Vinci jr bu that isn’t important because I am having problems with the software. With allot of the recent items I am printing I have to add a raft to them but the rafts have a significate problem that just star appearing. I am going to try to explain this to the best of my ability but without much knowledge I do not know how well I can explain it, so prepare for a large run on sentence with lots of rambling and probably some nonsense. The rafts that the XYZ software for ease of explanation run diagonally North West to South East on the printer bed the printer starts printing and gets the outline of the object down but when it starts filling in the object the first internal print layer also runs diagonally North West to South East so the fist layer of print gets messed up because the aft which has about 1mm in between each row lets the first layer of print slide through the gaps in the raft causing a large mess of a base to the object. this is not the printers fault because no matter what I can not make the software put the raft going perpendicularly to the first print layer. I have tried rotating the object before I put it in the XYZ software, I have tried rotating it in the XYZ software, and I have tried adding other objects on to get the layers alternating but no matter what they always face the wrong way messing up the base layer. Is anyone else encountering this problem, and does anyone know a way to change the raft direction relative to the first print direction? I am going to add a picture to try and show it.
Change your raft layers and density. I usually do 3 raft layers and 45 for the fill. You’re trying to save material and doing 1 layer that won’t help. Based on the item pictures idk why you’re using a raft. It appears to have sufficient surface area to stick to the print bed.
The printer prints very well. I do not even use a raft because with or without a raft. It is still hard to get anything off the bed easy. So I would not worry about an object moving on the bed. If you feel like it just use a glue stick on the tape.
Try using Simplify3D, if you can afford it, it allows you to customize the angles for rafts and infil.
I can not customise the rafting.
So I place tape on the bed and put glue on the top of the tape
Put tape on bed and a light coat of the stick glue over the tape.
Any specific type of glue or just the average school paper glue?
I use Elmer’s stick glue. The one that says extreme on it and with a blue “X” on it.
This worked perfectly, thank you so much. You just saved me tons of time and PLA, I can’t thank you enough. -Perry
Your welcome, glad I could help.
This is my third time typing this due to internet problems so I am going to make it short. The glue worked perfectly for the first 5ish prints, but every recent print the base of the thing has been bent up in a rounded cone shape. I am adding plenty of glue and as far as I can see the piece is not bending up whilst it’s on the print bed but I could be wrong. It only appears to bend whilst its off the bed.Everything is perfectly straight except the base, I don’t even know how this is really possible because everything is how it is supposed to be except the base but watching it for the first couple minutes the base prints flat. Do you know what I am having problems with? Thanks -Perry
