Hi again guys n girls Can anyone help me? My dreamer has a blue pad attached to the bed plate but my rafts still lift at the corners on medium and small parts. I’m using abs at 220 bed plate 80 is that enough info? Thx peeps

I find that I get the best adhesion with ABS, when I run my hotbed at 110.

You have to prep your bed, 110 is the right temperature to use, but it needs help sometimes to keep itsticking. A slurry of ABS and Aceton can be made and applied to your bed to improve your adhesion.

Thx I’ll try at 110degs and post a comment Thx again for your help

Hi Paul, I’d try going 110 on the headed bed temp. Also some hairspray or abs juce would get things properly stuck to the plate.

Re,

Mihai.

I’ve found with the blue pad no ABS slurry is required if you’ve got it leveled right. Some larger surface area prints really stick though! PITA to remove them sometimes.

Sorry to ask but I fele the need to double check: By “blue pad” you all mean “blue tape” right? I did not miss some magic “blue pad” with similar properties as buildtak, right?

110° is the right temp. and… Well, today it seems that I will talk again about how my life changed with DIMAFIX. especially for ABS.

110 for ABS. I find anything less, and I have problems.

FWIW, I never need ABS juice or slurry or any of that shizz. Heat up the bed, ensure its levelled properly and let the blue build surface do its thang!

good luck

Broken link for me but I suppose you linked to this? http://www.fabricat3d.com.au/build-plate-flashforge-blue-build-surface/ 1

It realy must be very similar to buildtak. No? Which I tried. It is great. Untill you destroy it with wrong leveling or static hot head. Now I prefer borosilicate & Dimafix. A bit harder to fix, but excellent longevity. And one bottle will coat a full plate 100 times at least so worth the money (No need to spray everytime btw).

Yes thats the one. With regards longevity, Ive had the same one since last August, and its still going strong. No rips, tears or damage at all. Cost = 7 bucks.

On second thoughts, and… as usual, no shipping to my freaking country (Belgium), and 9€ from FF europe = 10 bucks. I dont know… Anybody know if it is the exact same thing as Buildtak or different?

Hi guys to let you know about the blue pad. Its a pad with a hardish smooth surface a bit like a mouse pad it sticks to the bed and it has forge logo on top made by 3m extremely sticky and came supplied with the dreamer. I bought a spare as I was in bankok anyway. Hope that clears things up. I’m off to bali tomorrow for 10 days so I’ll try 110degs when I’m back in chiang mai. Thx again guys big help from you all

Try turning the bed up between 100 -110c. that should help. Also make sure your bed is level. I’ve found that putting the extruder at 225-230 c works best for ABS as well. Good luck!

I’ll give it a shot jbg or do you prefer chuck? No matter what thx very much for the info

Hotter bed. Either that or tape the raft to the bed…

Hey There Paul3, Im assuming that you are using the flashforge abs?

The bluepad that flashforge supplies is a bad version of buildtak. Its there attempt to produce the same thing. Although it can work sometimes, i do suggest buying the real buildtak (its not expensive and will last for a very long time).

For now your best option is to clean the plate with some rubbing alcohol ( not to much, Yes i mean cleaning the bluepad ), if your using the flashforge abs, i suggest heating the build platform all the way up to 100-110 degrees (dont worry it will not melt).

If this still doesnt work, give a quick spray to the bluepad.

Cheers

Hi marvin Yes I’m using forge abs and I’ll def try hotter bed and clean it up. I’m off to bali now for 10 days so will try it on my return Thx for taking the time out for me and I’ll look at buildtak see if I can source it here in thailand

I recommend cleaning the pad with acetone after each print, run the bed temp at 110. I noticed the blue pad “wears out” after 125 hours and changing it out to a new one cured the problem for me. After using the two pads that came with the printer and an additional 6 pack I ordered I ditched the pad and went to printing on glass/kapton. I use acetone to clean the kapton followed up by “Auqanet” super hold hair spray. —> since the glass upgrade—> I haven’t lost or had a warped print in the last 1000 hours!
