Hey, I’m in the middle of calibrating my Printrbot 1405 kit, and am going to take it apart a week or two after I get it up and running. I’d love to hear where you all source parts from. I’m looking for an 8x8in HBP, a BP to go with it, a bunch of 40mm 12V fans, some longer threaded rods, etc. I’d prefer places with quick shipping and in the US, although neither is a requirement. Also, anyone have solutions for enclosing the printer? It’s not a box frame printer, which means I can’t just slap panels on the sides. Thanks!

PS: I appreciate people’s suggestions for printers to upgrade to, kits to start out with, etc, but please don’t post them here. I’ve bought and built a kit, and know exactly what upgrades I’m doing, just looking for parts now. Thanks

Maker farm is nice. Reasonable prices. Some stuff is probly cheaper on ebay. Steppers you can get direct.

Fans I buy off of Amazon, I found they are cheapest. I ordered and ACME threaded rod from McMaster-Carr. They cost a few bucks, but they are not a bad deal. As for a hot bed, they can charge quite a bit of money, but I have pondered making one our of aluminium plating. Maybe not cut it myself. but there are plenty of places that will do it for you. Other parts I have purchased have been stabilizer rods, pulleys and belts from Amazon, which are cheap. In fact Amazon has bearings, both round and linear and I just looked and found that they have a 214mm x 214mm hot bed for $10.50 and a few bucks for shipping. Anyway, I hope that helps and good luck on your build. Please let me know how it goes.
