Hi all,
I am looking to print my first part as a prototype, but I’ve never used 3DHubs before (or 3D printed for that matter) so I have a few questions after uploading my first part file. I simply exported my part from Solidworks as an STL file with fine detail. Is the process of going from a Solidworks part to a printable part file really this simple?
After uploading this STL file I noticed that when I do a sliced view of the part (using the small drag bar on the model view on 3DHubs) it’s showing the part having what seems like zero wall thickness (even though it says the part is printable and has a wall thickness greater than 1 mm and my design certainly has a much larger wall thickness). Is this normal and is there a standard wall thickness that I should assume is going to be printed? And finally, does 3DHubs/the printer take care of adding support structures using their printers support software or do I need to take care of adding the support structure? My part has a significant overhang (necessary for the connection of an airline) that will certainly need support.
Sorry for so many questions and thank you for the help!
