Hello!

I recently procured a Qidi Technology X-One and today it started making a HORRIBLE grinding sound when the extruder is closest to me (maximum Y) and then I tell it to move along X.

I’ve included a video here, 17 any tips would be DEEPLY appreciated

You may have a bent axis rod. Contact QIDI Tech support ASAP. They are extremely helpful at troubleshooting and rushing you parts to repair when necessary.

It is most likely a stepper cable for the X or Y motor. Contact QIDI and they will help you out and take care of it. This is not uncommon.

I had this issue, it is nothing major. Replace the stepper motor cable. There should be a spare that came with the machine.

I went through the trouble of replacing the motherboard, swapping motors, swapping stepper motor drivers, it all came down to being the cable.

I’ve contacted Qidi, and they say they have sent me a replacement X-Axis motor cable. The video they sent me 25 basically shows how to attach it to the motor itself (duh), but shows nothing in terms of where you plug the other end into. Do I need to remove the grating on the bottom to access the motherboard? Where does the end of the X-Axis motor cable go?

Yes, then just follow the old cable. The place they plug in should be labeled but is a little hard to see. If you need help let me know and I will take a pic of mine.
