Hi Hubbers.
I want to start making lampshades on my FFCP, so I will need to be able to cut up my design for printing. But I would like the joins to feature in the design, rather than just be a smeared glue line…
So I suggestions?
I have found (not tried yet) the PuzzleCut on thingiverse which looks good. (PuzzleCut OpenSCAD Library by nothinglabs - Thingiverse )
Am I asking too much?

Hey Cris,
The jigsaw pieces are a great idea. Similarly to this if you don’t want glue lines, then you could make the design so it clips together. If it is symmetrical then this would be simple to design as you would only require one model, which can be printed multiple times. You could even have interlocking parts similar to a jigsaw, but could be hidden, so it would be in the design, like a dowel joint. If you don’t quite understand just ask and I may be able to find a picture which illustrates the concept. Good luck with the design. Could you please tell me how it goes as it sounds like an interesting project.

I don’t this applies very much to your lampshade, but the attached hinge design has worked well for us. See enclosed photo. Not very seemless for your application, but nice for parts that are taken apart and put back together often.
