Had a chance this last week to print some filament from ProtoPasta. I’m still working on the best settings, but was able to get this print out.
This was a print of a hand carved figure my son picked up in Ecuador.
It worked great but seems a lot more brittle than I’m used to.
printed @10% fill .1mm layer 230c hotend and 60 on the bed.
Also note that it sticks very well to glass beds. When I pulled it off I broke the figure off at the feet. A little CA glue and all is good again.
First image is it stuck to metal trim with a magnet.

Hey @AlexDick, do you have any tips for Mike?
@Mike_Walker @gabriela3d Looks like Mike got solid print. Nice work! I assume some of the feature loss is due to scan quality? Could be cool to start with a higher quality scan, but regardless, what a neat exercise to replicate an object in this way!!! The Iron material is more brittle so Mike might want to step up the wall thickness and/or infill next time (also will give a nice weighted feel). What’s really missing is some rust! We’ve got a blog entry with a method for maximum rust in minimal time: www.proto-pasta.com/blog/rusting-iron-prints-improved
