I recently purchased a Wanhao Duplicator i3. I’m new to 3D printing and am still getting settled in… but learn quick. The problem I’m having is whenever I print from a gcode file converted from STL. At first, I thought it may have been simply incorrect settings from the .ini file I imported I to octoprint. I’ve since downloaded the Wanhao-branded Cura 15 and 16, and had the same problems with them. Basically what happens is the print will not stick to the bed for more than 10-15 mins. It’ll pop loose and start traveling with the nozzle, creative a huge mess at the same time, requiring some work to get cleaned for the next attempt. On the last attempt, the print stayed on the pad but it still screwed up (pic attached). If I watch the print closely, it’s almost as if the extruded filament isn’t melting enough and stays stringy. Sometimes, the lines that are laid down never merge at all, making a weird fabric-looking print. I’ve done a lot of searching, but all threads seem to say “you need to do a cold pull and clean your printer out”. My nozzle is actually very clean, considering the few jams. In fact, printing from the files that came on the original SD card come out absolutely perfect. It is not the printer. The only time I have the problem is when I get STL files from online, then slice them (either with Cura or with the Cura profile on the octopi). Here is where I got my current Cura profile from: Duplicator i3 Factory Documentation & Files « 3d Printer Tips and Mods Wiki I’ve also tried an ini file from a user who said it worked perfect for him. The only thing I can think of is to slow the extrusion settings of turn up the nozzle temp. Although, I don’t understand why I should have to do that when it prints the files that came with printer just fine using the same filament. Here’s my setup: - 100% stock Wanhao Duplicator i3 - PLA 1.75mm filament - Raspberry Pi 3 running Octopi Please help! (typed on a mobile phone, so please excuse any crazy grammar.
