Hi all,
I’d like to print a cylinder with two slots on the Replicator 2. I tried to print it with support, but the support structure was only printet on a part of the area where it should be.
I added the .stl-file as well as three pics:
pic no. 1 shows the canceled print
pic no. 2 shows the preview of the replicator software
pic no. 3 shows the desired result.
So, my question is: can the support-structure reach over the whole area under the “roof”?
Makerbot will treat that section as a bridge. Try setting your bridging gap to 0. Otherwise lay your print on its side of your support structure is easy to clean
The problem you having is resolved with a simple tweak TURN THE PART UN THE SIDE. This will eliminate the need for support and it increase the strength of your print!
It’s not supporting it because it it’s a bridge. A flat roof like that should print ALMOST perfectly flat without support if you have your temp/speed/cooling dialed in. You can get a similar result by doing what others have suggested(turning on bridge support) but it still will not be perfect unless you are using dissolving support with no gap. If you want that square hole perfect(without sanding) then you should lay it on its side or print in two halves and glue them together.
