Hello! I have a craftbot 2, and in general my prints are very good.
But in some cases the printer leaves a continous stripe in the surface (It seems that each layer has a start point which causes the printer to make a very small movement when creating the next layer. All this “start point movements” create at the end a visible stripe on the entire surface of the object. I would like to know if someone knows how to fix this! Please HELP!
What slicing software are you using? Generally you can minimize the “zipper” with proper retraction settings, coast & wipe parameters. It will take some experimentation for particular printer/filament combination.
If you use Simplify3D as slicer you can enable “Use random start points for all perimeters”. This lets the printer start each layer at a different position which should reduce the marks to very small size or even disappear.
Thanks for your reply! I understand that for using Simplify3D you need to buy it, right? Im not sure if the high price worth it (I dont have many feedbacks) Do you recommed me to buy it?
I just figured that Craftware on the advance settings has an option called “source direction”. It was by default on the “dont care” setting but now Im trying to print again another pice using it on “random” … Im pretty sure this could fix it. THANKS
Yes, this should be the option to activate.
I like Simplify3d for the many option and most for the very good visualization of the sliced filament paths. You can really see in the monitor what will be done by the printer.
Because I do not know Craftware, I do not know if Simplify3D is much better.
