Very interesting read, have been wanting to recycle failed prints for a while now. This may be the push i needed to get a filabot and try this myself

This is very interesting - thank you for your study and posting your experience.

My understanding is that PLA is very sensitive to moisture and humidity. As such, when extruding PLA it is always best to dry the raw material first otherwise the results can be more brittle. I am therefore wondering what the relative moisture content may have been of the various filaments you made and how the moisture compared between them. There is no mention of any drying process in your article.

I theorize that you will get an improvement in print quality and in tensile strength by using a drying process.

I would be very interested to see your results of an expanded exploration into this with dry raw materials that have been either processed through a drier or at least a low temperature oven. (eg: 50°C for 4hrs) There are some videos on youtube about PLA production and the drying process is highlighted as an important factor for filament quality.
