print failing not sure if its printer or software

hi, I am trying to print a part using s3d. the printer starts ok, builds a sort of oval shape before going onto the main part and here it all goes wrong. when the printer is printing a few layers for the oval the z goes up 2mm, but when the printer starts to print the main part the z does not drop again and remains at 2mm above the bed. I am new to s3d and just don’t know if its the software at fault or the way I have set it up or the printer which did print its test print ok. any help would be good. the printer is an ender 3

Please get a picture of the 3D printed part and the kind of settings you have in your 3D printer. You can also view the user manual of your 3D printer to know about the issues that you face.
