So I recently bought a da vinci 1.0a printer. I installed repetier on the printer and even made ame instructional tutorial on how to install repetier on this particular printer. I royally screwed up my printer by, now don’t laugh at me, cutting the 2 heater wires for the extruder, therefore blowing a fuse in the circuit board of the printer. Now after I resoldered the 2 wired back together the extruder will not heat up… I really am looking for anyone that will sell me a new (or used) circuit board for this printer… I do not want to spend $250 on a new printer.

hi how come you are looknig for a new board maybe can be repaied

put a pic on of it

Hey Dylan,

We have a Da Vinci 1.0 that we have done pretty similar stuff with. We installed repetier, replaced the heated bed with an upgraded version and changed over the print head for an e3d model.

We reckon you may still be able to salvage your printer through replacing the fuse that may be blown. There’s a pretty active forum for modders of the Da Vinci line, someone there may be able to give you more targeted advice.

You can sometimes find a board for this on Ebay. You have some other options then just the original board. You can pretty much install any board and just setup the firmware for the printer. Also, if you are getting them for 250$ let me know where and I will buy dozens of them. They are great printers once flashed to Repetier and was my primary printer here for quite a while. I have thousands of hours on my printer and the majority of the items in my hub pictures were printed on it. They are great workhorse printers once some work is put into them.

If you have steady enough hands you might be able to replace the fuse on the board. It’s tiny but possible.

The fuse is a pretty easy fix if you follow the process laid out in the forums. If you can’t find it on the solid forum or volito with a Google search. Create an account and ask. Most of the DaVinci owners are awesome and at least one of us has gone through something similar. Even designed our own fix it parts for many of the issues. The main issues I’ve had are with the cheap plastic connectors. Most are 12v automotive style now where I could use them. Digikey.com 9 is a great place for the OEM style ends for making new wiring harness. I recommend upgrading to 24awg wire from the 26-28awg used by the manufacturer. What a difference that made in ambient sound of the machine. I recommend upgrading the heat bed glass to heat treated oven door glass at a local glass supplier. Went through 2 tables before I made the switch. It takes patience and effort but it’s easy to change the glass once the heat pad is removed from the underside with nail polish remover. And the upto. 010in flex in the table is down to a much more manageable .001in (25.4micron) flex. That alone made a huge difference in print quality. As others have said there are so many mods to make these printers amazing work horses. My next big mod is to change the step sizing in the firmware to make it more accurate but that involves math and calculations I don’t have the patience for at the moment.
