Hi Everyone!
I just want to drop by to share these two efforts by the Portland 3D Printing Lab in hopes that some of you will be able to help spread the word, donate printing time/filament, or just donate cash as I will.
All info you’ll need to help will be below.
Thank you very much if you choose to support and have a great day,
Jason

eNable effort organized by Jesse @ Hedron:
I am pleased to announce an upcoming workshop at Maker Faire PDX this year in collaboration with the Portland 3D Printing Lab. The workshop is in response to the volunteer-run global community known as e-NABLE who made a call this month for 1000 3D-printed hands. The title of the workshop, Adopt-a-hand, denotes that participants can donate 3D-printing time or money (~$35) to make a prosthetic hand. For every donation we will send a 3D-printed prosthetic hand to someone in need of prosthesis. This 60-minute workshop will be held on Saturday, September 12th at 2pm in a classroom at OMSI during Maker Faire PDX.
Raptor Reloaded Prosthetic hand from Thingiverse
Workshop details:
We will lead people through the assembly process of the Raptor Reloaded prosthetic hand in person and with a projector feed. Participants will do everything to build the prosthetic, from snapping fingers and phalanges together to attaching the synthetic tendons and flexsors to tensioning and fine-tuning the operation. By the end of the workshop participants will have prepared the hand for delivery to recipients.
Interested in helping? Donate your 3D printer skills!
Great you want to 3D print a hand! Now what?
We need to 3D print 20 Raptor Reloaded hands before the workshop on the 12th. We have created a shared google sheet to track progress and give you further instructions.

About the Crowd-printing effort organized by Miguel for the PDX3DPLab:
Hello, Community!
This year, we’ll be participating in the Portland Mini Maker Faire hosted at OMSI again! (September 12-13)
One thing we learned last year was that we could engage children and adults alike with small, 3D printed giveaways. Although we can’t give something to every attendee, we can certainly give a bunch to those who are interested. We are calling on you – the community, to help us print as many trinkets as possible to hand out during the two days of the event. To keep things simple, we have a few STLs to choose from that are quick and easy to print, and we have some filament graciously donated to us by ProtoPlant for this project. Please confirm if you can help out with the printing. Email me at: (mhigginsmoy@gmail.com) for further instructions and we will arrange to get you some PLA filament. You will also receive a thank-you sign with your name on it within the next two monthly meetups depending on printer availability. We hope to see as much of the community at the event as possible.
Happy printing,
-Miguel Higgins/Moy
