My setup is as follows, aluminium bed, rubber mat (to help prevent crowning of bed, still crowns in middle and lower at ends), glass sheet, 3m tape then PEI on top. ABS sticks and prints fine, sticks a little too well so I’m going to try and lower the temps.
PLA just doesn’t want to stick, it hates me, what I stand for and this new bed.
Not sure why, tried different bed and nozzle temps from the low to the high range. Now my bed has never been perfectly level as stated above but this hasn’t stopped me when printing on glass and kapton and spray.
I’m guessing that’s just for PLA? I’m trying to get a get a bed setup that does both without using spray or glue or abs slurry, want to stay away from that mess.
I found that with the 3m tape I just could not get the same level of flat as printing on boro with tape. I still use it but there are certain sections of the bed which I just avoid because it bubbled up a little bit. Can also get around that kind of problem by printing on a raft but it wastes material.
What temp are you setting the bed to? Even with the pei I set the bed to 60C or so.
50c, I’ve tried a different PLA I had and it’s working fine. Must be crap PLA or mistakenly labelled PLA when it’s actually abs, I wouldn’t be surprised lol.
Any who it’s working fine now, although I am now getting a stringing/quality problem with my ABS when it used to print fine before. Strange.
