Hey guys, we are experiencing some issues we have never had before. We are in Ohio and this week the temperature is around 70 degrees. Mostly all month it has been cold and around 20-30 degrees. This week it suddenly warmed up. We just tried to print a part this week and it printed great but when we went to take it off the print bed it won’t come off! We tried using a hammer, scraper, and pliers. We ended up ripping our print bed tape and having to cut the part off. Does anyone know why all the sudden parts are sticking so good that it is impossible to get them off? Can this be caused by humidity? We are printing ABS with 110 bed temp and 230 extruder with the flashforge creator pro. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
A number of people are using glass plates on top of their bed, then place the print, still on the glass, into a refrigerator or freeze. Supposedly, even the most stuck-on part pops off with this technique.
try to use less glue or less concetrated glue to stick on the print bed. If you are using abs dissolved in acetone, spray it over the plate, don’t apply it with a brush becouse it will be always to much of it.
The weather conditions can’t affect that much the sticking ability of the glue…by me never happend, it had always somethig to do with glue concetration and how big is the part face that is laying on the print bed.
The Refrigerator thing works by me, you can give it a try
Honestly, when I print ABS, I have my print bed (which is a plate of aluminum with tape; no glue or anything) set to only 85C, and the parts come off perfectly, while sticking just as well. I could be that the extruder is too low to the bed and is “burning” the tape and filament into the bed.
(Assuming your nozzle is at the right height), If you were to drop the bed down to 85C, you might have to adjust a few other variables, but I would think it would help.
I’m somewhat inexperienced, though. Don’t take my word for it if it doesn’t seem like the correct thing to do
I am new to this forum and fairly new to 3D printing using both a 3D stuffmaker single extruder and a Flash forge creator pro. Have had many issues regarding sticking and no sticking to the plate. I think heat of the build plate is a big issue and have found that the lower the temp of the build plate the easier it is for the parts to be removed. However I did also find that at times I needed the build plate to be over 100C and when it is difficult to get the part off I liberally wet a paper towel with Rubbing Alcohol and wipe it around the base of the part where it is stuck to the build plate. Some patience is required while the alcohol seeps into the stuck area but it does seem to somewhat loosen the part to help it come off. Worth a try!
