Is there a material that can be used to make my 3D design that will take paint?
Its definitely possible paint a 3D print, although some work is required beforehand if you want to get good results. Mostly sanding and applying a primer.

Thank you. The guide does not state what the underlying material is. My question is whether any of the materials will take paint. Most plastics do not take paint well as they are non-porous. Even if primed, the life is typically very limited. Are there any 3D printers in Boston that use paper or wood as the base material?
There are plastic primers. See my hub. I’ve had a large piece airbrushed and it came out great.
