Hi guys,
Here is my off road dune buggy design that has working suspension and linkage. I have put wings and slick tyres on it just cause I thought it looked cooler.
The idea behind it was to create the car and suspension linkages so it could all be printed in one print so that it could be created with stronger elements as the pieces didn’t have to be assembled. This design is printed with the chassis, linkages and suspension elements all in one. I made the springs separately so that they could be a different colour but it could be printed in one piece, see below.
Print settings
All the parts were printed in ABS except the tyres (orange) which were printed with NinjaFlex. Printed with 3 layers and 10% infill, support is required for the springs and chassis. The parts all clip together with no glue or other fasteners required and it is extremely strong. Video of cracking the linkage after printing here:
See the suspension movement in the photos below.
Where to find the design
You can download the files here and I’d love to see how the print goes on other printers so if you print it please let me know how you go. I’m going to do a second version soon with a more open chassis so that people can design their own top chassis sections so you can use the suspension base to create your own unique looking car. I’d like to know if people would be interested in that?

You guys should begin taking your segment of the RC and Models market, there’s no one dominating that area yet and your models are pretty cool!

Thanks @Gfisherwils that is my area of interest so I hope so because that’s what I find most interesting! Is there anything you want designed that you haven’t seen before because I’m always open to ideas? Cheers Andrew
Hi Andrew,
For me what would be interesting is a database of add ons for popular RC vehicles so you can “pimp” your RC.
Yeah that’s a great idea! I tried to make my RC car into a boat so I didn’t have to buy a boat as well but it didn’t turn out as fast as I’d hoped haha I’m going to do more work on it when I have time (I dont know if you saw it I posted it on hubs under Toybota).
great design mate! looking fwd to printing it out
thanks @3dprintingguy let me know if you do print it, I’m interested to see if all the tolerances work the same on everyone’s printers
