Noob to Maker Select V2

Hey Everyone,

Can you please let me know the best mods to install on this unit once I get it on Monday next week. This is my first 3d printer. From what I can tell I should be looking at possibly the following but can’t find them for sell.

Mosfet board

Y Brace

Glass bed

Stabilzer

Could someone link me to an article or somewhere I can buy everything I need to get the best out of a 200.00 unit.

I have a Maker Select Plus so I haven’t had to do some of the mods required for the V2 like the MOSFET, but you’ll find a lot of good info at the following link:

Note that the Maker Select v2 and Plus are rebranded Wanhao i3 and i3 Plus models so most of the literature for one brand applies to both. From you upgrade list, I would recommend the MOSFET first from a safety standpoint, then do the Z-brace: Z braces for Wanhao Duplicator i3, Cocoon Create, Maker Select, and Malyan M150 i3 3D printers. by AzzA - Thingiverse

I’d also look into the PID tune and the extruder steps calibration from the previous link. I would wait a bit on the glass bed. Your prints will be fine without it and since you are new to 3d printing you will probably want to get used to leveling the bed properly and consistently. On my first printer I scratched the stock bed with some improper leveling so use the OEM bed to make your first mistakes and then upgrade to the glass bed once you feel more comfortable. You should be able to buy everything you need from Amazon. Hope that helps and welcome to 3d printing!
