Hey, was looking to tryout some new stuff, the “nGen” filament by Colorfabb sounds pretty cool. Has anyone tested this stuff out yet? I’m used to printing ABS and NinjaFlex, and would like recommended settings from anyone who’s used this before I buy a spool!

Hi

I’m relatively new to 3D printing but I have so far used PLA, nGen and ABS materials.

My projects are things I normally use outside, so I’m always concerned about how things do in the sun.

So far, PLA has failed some of my tests because it does not like very much heat.

ABS is somewhat peculiar because it has high shrink rates that can cause projects to warp or delaminate.

Last week I tried nGen filament by ColorFabb on my TAZ6 printer.

So far, I’m impressed with the results.

I use mostly default settings but I do run 2mm of shells outside, top and bottom and I change retract setting to 1.3mm to get clean prints.

It’s just what I do.

Extrude temps run at 205c and bed at 60c

If you successfully run ABS and NinjaFlex you should not have any trouble with nGen.

nGen so far, appears to be less brittle than PLA and Appears to handle temperatures just slightly below ABS.

I have a Bird feeder I just placed outside today that is an assembly of nGen material parts along with PLA parts.

I’ll see how this works when It gets very warm outside and very cold outside.

Just my 2 cents worth

nGen is great, if you can print in ABS then nGen wont be a problem
