Is there any way to measure how much pressure you can exert on the filament between the belts and the driver?
Is it comparable to this model Improved Ultimaker 2 Material Extruder | 0x7D.com ?
Agreed should just have two rollers geared together with rubber grippers. I am working on this. It will be direct extrusion though bowden is not very good in my opinion.
Oh thank you very much! This will be useful for altering to the parts (for example for adding an inlet for the bowden tube).

Looks good, but the filament being bent while going in (80 degree) is not really optimal for filaments that are easy to break, or?
I loke this idea but you are not going to release stl files on this? Can i print my own please? This looks like a great idea, i would like make one for myself. What do you say?

Dang it. I had the same idea. However, I have a different idea than you, but look great.
This looks great, I hope the order ships fast and that the kit is complete? I’d need to print with a variety of nozzle diameters, .2 up to .8, this looks like it could do it with enough heat and cooling.

It looks familiar… The only thing with their setup is that they do not fully exploit the advantages of a belt and therefor they still had to add a hobbed bolt to the system to make it work. Actually now I look at the system more closely there is no way to tension the belts at all and the pulleys are positioned in a way that the belts cant do what they supposed to do, so you have in principle a system with 1 hobbed bolts and 4 smooth bolts in series…

Have tried it with abs, pla, petg, bioflex, ninjaflex and many more. None seem to have issues with the bend. Im now testing a 3mm version and it seems that there it is gonna be an issue, probably have to increase the diameter of the friction wheel.

In the beginning of february I’ll do a demonstration in the reprapworld shop in Nootdorp, the Netherlands. We’ll record it for the youtube so you all can see. And we’re gonna use my next invention/design, a simple cheap filament speed sensor, to test the slip/speed of all different kinds of extruders on the market compared to the v-struder.

This looks like a good design, but I don’t see how this could bring FFF/FDM up to par with SLS or SLA. There are already extruder designs that exist that should theoretically easily manage the micron-scale features SLS and SLA can achieve, but we still can’t do it because of the dynamics of melting plastic and pushing it through a nozzle.
As for the design itself, I do see how this would reduce grinding, but my concern is that since there’s no longer anything to dig into the filament, might slippage happen if the pressure at the nozzle was higher? Of course, I haven’t tested it so I could be wrong, but it just seems likely especially if the coefficient of friction of the belts wasn’t very high.
In the event of a nozzle jam, what fails/gives-way?
