Nest parts?!

Hi Makers,

Does anyone have a good solution for easely nesting parts on a build plate ?

I am familiar with Makerware and cura. but they do not provide this option i think.

Do you mean the BRIM option (that I use in Slic3r)?

no, i mean a program that arrange multiple objects on the print platform, so the max number of items fit the plate.

I use simplify3d. Does the nesting automticly. If you want you van make a Factory file per seperate part or use one for all. Works fine.

I just bought simplify3D, thanks for the tip.

But the nesting is quite rough. Simplify3D nest the bounding box of the parts. so there is still some space between the parts.

Simplify 3d has a lot of other features that are great for increasing the quality.

I know, if I need to reduce empty space, I select each part and I change the position manualy. If you do this and you want to import an other part, don’t forget to uncheck the auto position function or you can start al over again. Been there, done that.

also a nice feature in simplify is that you can use multiple factory processes in one single part. you can set a z-dimension where to start the process and where to stop and continue with another.
