Hi Folks,

New here and was hoping for some help today, I’m very new to 3D printing and want to complete my project. I’m having trouble in CAD programs converting 2D to 3D seems they just won’t work.

I’ve tried Makerbot and Turbocad deluxe but nothing works.using .EPS or JPEG

I’m trying to complete a stamp project, with the attachments below. I also need help with the logo file being it’s a 3 piece stamp. It’s being used to stamp on poly/cardboard shopping bags.

I Just don’t understand should I make three separate stamps or 3 pieces, haven’t figure out that process yet.

I tried a few 3D printing companies in Toronto but didn’t get much luck,so if someone can help with my project please let me

Thank you

I also wanted to add, I need the base to have a “rubber stamp feel” how could that be completed with also having fine detail.

We can definitely help you. We would take your image and emboss the areas you wish and than 3D print in our SLA machine.

Hey @KG29, we actually created a stamp in the office earlier this week. @Alex3DHubs should be able to give you some great tips.

This youtube video might be of some help: Blender-Converting 2D Image to 3D Object - YouTube

First you have to turn your .JPEG into a vector graphic (shown in the video). Then you will be able to import it into a CAD program for further editing.
The 3-piece-stamp looks like it can be made as 1 piece. It’s just a matter of extruding the ‘details’ of your logo and attaching them to a solid shape (e.g. a rectangle) to make it an actual stamp.

If you need it to be a rubber-like material, then I suggest printing it with what’s called ‘NinjaFlex’

Hope that makes sense/points you in the right direction!

We can also print it in rubber on our SLS machine.

Hey Andrew, I edited out your phone number and added a link to your Hub instead. Hope it’s ok. Cheers

Gabriela,

Sorry about it I wasn’t aware that I can not put the contact info.

This is my first conversation.

No worries, Andrew! However Gijs should be able to contact you through your hub as well. Thanks for understanding.

Hi KG,

We can definitely help you if you are still not having much success. You can find us here: https://www.3dhubs.com/toronto/hubs/ultra-resolution

We’ve done a lot of turning ideas, 2D sketch into 3D print for customers. Just shoot us an email.

Best,

Luke

We can print in rubber for the rubber feel, but this would be the best if we communicate a bit more to understand how you want the whole thing is, because from experience, rubber isn’t as strong and have some performance issues under stress/strain condition.

Best,

Luke

Heya,

If you trace what you want to be a stamp in a program like illustrator or gimp, you can easily save it as a svg and then import it in Tinkercad to make it 3D.

What i did was print a negative of the stamp you want and then mold it with sugru, which is more or less silicon and can hold ink better. This thingiverse project may be helpful to you for the base and handle.

if you send me the files I can create any extrusion stl files ready for 3d print

I use vector magic and 3ds studio max to create the extrusion files and export as obj then convert in netfabb its a quick and easy process …

cheers

JOHN

Okay that sounds great, my jpeg file is above in attachments and the second stamp is just text. See the issue is I need a three colour stamp. I will need to dip 1,white 2,green then black.

So is having 3 separate stamps cheaper or coming up with a complex design, similer to those multi colour pens. The White layer would push out etc etc building up to a final product.

That’s just a concept I thought about.

Hi,

I’m still very “Green” so I’m not very sure what sugru is? Would this be a filament or more resign type product I can use with Form1+ or a Makerbot machine.

Hi,

Great I will be in contact and see what kind of price this will cost, The text stamp is about 6" wide and 2" high for stamping boxes.

The other stamp is being used with 16"-18" Thick Poly bags or cardboard type bags. So I can’t give you exact measurements but was thinking a 4" circle.

thanks

Hi,

thanks for your reply, I will check out the video. What I was meaning about a 3 piece stamp was I need to stamp on think poly bags and have different colours. I was thinking about a complex design to where each part just pushes out building everything up.

Something similer to a Multi-colour pen

It’s just to expensive for min orders on getting bags made, so I thought 3D printing everything and stamping whats needed instead of having boxes of bags. Same thing with boxes I can just buy in bundles and brand with our company info.

I was just looking at ninja flex because I’m thinking about buying a Makerbot machine and saw all the cool filaments like Carbon fiber for strength.

We will differently talk, I saw the very cool machines you have so I’m very interested how they would work with this job. I’ve posted above a little about my thoughts being a 3 piece stamp design.

Do you typical charge for design work too?

thanks

something like this maybe ??
