Hi All,

I’ve spent about about a year printing everything under the sun that I could push through a Flashforge Creator Pro and am looking to upgrade to a new machine. To make this a little more specific than the nebulous “recommend a printer” threads I was hoping for some feedback or recommendations from people who own or have seen in action printers that meet or exceed the following specifications:

Build Volume : Larger than 20*15*14cm (W/D/H)

Materials: ABS, PLA, Nylon

Filament Diameter: 1.75mm

Nozzle Diameter: 0.4mm or smaller

Compatible with Simplify3D or Cura

Compatible with 3rd Party filament (Otherwise Zortrax would have my business right about now)

Price: <3000 USD

I’ve spent a fair chunk of time looking around the most recent offerings for printers and see allot of positive hype around BCN3D Sigma and the Lulzbot Taz5/6… however the fact that these come with 3mm stock extruders is a pain in the backside and an additional cost to change.

I mostly print small high detail parts, miniatures and props however I’ve started printing prototypes for medical measurement tools which would need to be autoclavable (So I’m looking for a machine that can print Nylon).

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, I’m currently tossing up between ordering a Taz 6 and swapping out the extruder or jumping on the bandwagon with the new Prusa I3 Mk2… the price difference between these printers erks me allot and makes me question the value of some of the more expensive offerings on the market. Regardless, I’d love to hear your thoughts and opinions!

Gmax 1.5XT fits into all those categories, and you’d be amazed at its build volume.

For a budget price printer that meets all those specs, I’d recommend the Malyan M180 from Hobbyking.

You can use ‘other’ types of filament in the Zortrax like PET, PETG, PC and Colorfabb XT. I use the Zortrax next to the ZYYX+ to cover almost all the available materials. Nylon is a hard material to print with, I never tried it in the Zortrax .

Thanks for the reply Rada, the ZYYX+ looks very interesting. Is it available outside of the EU? Are there other machines with the same/similar specs?
