This is a question for Hubs. What filaments do customers seem to be ordering the most?

I could’t seem to find any good info on that.

Thanks!

On my website (grimbixcode.ch) I sell only models printed with PLA. Til today it seems like that nobody is interested in other materials…
What’s your experience?

ABS is our most popular filament, but the Form2 is by far our most popular printer.

You can look at the Filaments.directory trends : www.filaments.directory/en/trends

It’s only offer trends at the moment but can give you some insights.

Hi

I’ ve been farming out my 3D prints to 3Dhubs and others over the past 3 years.

My choice of filament has everything to do with what I’m building.

I’ve had good success with ABS, although I only had a few parts printed in ABS.

What I was looking for was temperature tolerance.

The majority of things I’ve had printed have been made with PLA.

The very major problem with PLA is its rather low temperature tolerance of the finished part.

If PLA parts are used on things like bird feeders, outside, in the sunlight,

they get soft and want to distort.

In automotive application, PLA distorts rather badly because of high temperatures encountered when vehicle is sitting in the sun.

My ABS backup cam mounting bracket appears to be holding up well.

My PLA backup cam housing is very distorted and about to fall apart.

I purchased a 3D printer about 2 weeks ago and am now using nGen (ColorFabb) material.

So far, my prints have been turning out meeting my expectations.

nGen is supposed to be more tolerant of higher temperatures of the finished part as in automotive interiors.

I have as yet to determine this.

I appears that you are relatively new to 3D printing, as am I.

Try to stock material that matches your end goals.

So far; I’ve specified PLA, ABS, PETG, Taulman910 nylon, NinjaFlex, and Semiflex material on things I’ve designed and printed.

Also, I’ve had some small parts on the HD side of 3Dhubs made in SLS Nylon. Good Stuff, but you pay for the very high quality.

Currently, when I purchased my printer, I also ordered nGen, ABS, PLA, NinjaFlex and I have a few small coils of material

they sent along with my printer order.

My intention is to use whatever filament meets my end result requirement.

Your customers demands will determine the type of material you use, and also what cooperates with your printer.

Sorry if I didn’t really answer your question, but it really depends on your location and types of orders.

I hope my ramblings have helped you in some manner.

Thanks for your thoughts! Yeah I was mostly wandering what filaments other hubs have been selling a lot of. My personal favorite filaments are PETG l, and ColorFabb XT and HT. HT is particularly awesome because of its low warping and glass transition temp of a little over 100 c. I have been using it for a lot of my fictional prints. I stock these filaments for myself, but I was wondering what the other big sellers are so I could stock some of those too. So the few orders I have had have been all over the place filament wise.

Bit off topic, but saw your site, are you aware we have a 3D Hubs Widget you could integrate on your own site? It can be found under your Hub Dashboard --> Powertools. Just FYI

Thanks, I know them, but there was a bug by using it with internet explorer. I know, ie isn’t fine but my customers… So I’m waiting for the bugfix
(I have already reported it)
