Hello my name is Justin and I am new to 3D printing. This is also my first post on this forum so thank you for allowing me to be a part of your community. I recently purchased a Monoprice Maker Ultimate 3D printer and I am having several issues. The first issue and my biggest concern happened when I set up the printer and ran the bed leveling cycle. At the start of the cycle the extruder makes contact with the print bed, moves straight up, comes back down and makes contact with the print bed again. When the extruder is still touching the print bed the X and Y axis move as it is starts to come up in Z and it leaves a one inch scratch mark in the bed. I have adjusted the Z-axis limit switch to the lowest setting which helps but the extruder still drags across the print bed every time I run the bed leveling cycle. I have attached a picture of the scratched bed. Aside from this issue I am also having problems with prints sticking to the print bed. Small prints in the middle of the bed seem to stick but bigger prints will not stay down, I tried the bed covers that came with the printer and blue painters tape. Also the swan sample that came with the printer failed at the the neck. Has anyone else had these issues with this printer. Thanks again.

I had this same issue; I had to adjust the screw at the back of the build plate which hits the limiter switch in the rear of the machine, along with lowering the limiter switch by one place (there are three).
Monoprice tech support wasn’t helpful on this issue. You’ll have to fiddle to get it calibrated, but the good news is that you can do it yourself. Put some painter’s tape or kapton tape over the scratches on the platform pad, and you should be good to go.

Thanks I lowered the limit switch and adjusted the screw and it seems to be working now. I have the blue painters tape on the bed. I appreciate your help.
Did that correct the issue you had with printing the swan? I had the same issue. It seemed like the extruder pushed the head and the neck did not properly connect at the top.
Ajust Z screw + add a glass plate + 3D lac (or cheap hair spray)
I have complited on my blog a lot of tips and improvements for our printer Monoprice Maker Ultimate (MMU) 151710 and Wanhao Duplicator 6 (D6). This list is not exhaustive.
I hope this will help newbees. Feel free to comment, share, and complete !
