Dear Forumites
The non-drive gear on the y-axis of my Wanhao Duplicator i3 Plus is misaligned, as per photo. All fasteners are tight and it looks as if the toothed belt was tensioned too much from the factory, leaving the plastic idler block somewhat twisted. There are tiny rubber shavings from where the belt runs over the idler pulley flange.
Any mod that fixes this?
Best regards
Arthur

I don’t own i3+, but, as far as I know, the idler block is powder coated steel, so something is bent, broken, or was not welded on straight when it was made. There are a mods for the earlier i3 machines, to stop the idler bracket flexing, but I’ve not seen one bent purely through belt tension. There may be a similar mod for the i3+, but the block would have to be straightened first and the belt tension checked - a belt that is tight enough to bend the block at that angle would probably do damage to other parts too, such as bearings and the stepper.
horsj is right, if as you say the belt is sharding, then pressure must be too strong. there will be a tensioner somewhere to release this pressure to allow belt removal. find this, slacken off, and then attempt to striaghten the pulley support and if nessasary gusset to reinforce.
No, it’s a thermoplastic block through which the bolt is mounted, and the belt tension feels anywhere between “a little too tight” to “tight”. I’d rather say that the mounting isn’t properly engineered.

I had a look around to see if anyone had done a mod, but, I couldn’t find anything - strange because it does look like a design/engineering issue. Personally, I would draw up a bigger block, that butts up to the frame and/or locks into the slot, tighten the existing block enough to get a print, then replace the existing block.
tigger, then send the machine back, but if your not prepared to do your own mods then maybe you should have paid $4000 for an ultimaker. Stevethe buddistXXX
Send the machine back? Not in this lifetime.
