Wow, thank you Chelsea!

My hope is to create intricate robotic-like structures for the interior of my third version of the mechanized Iron Man boot.

Mechatronics, computer controlled linear actuators, sensors, servos, and lock mechanisms are involved with custom housings.

Wow, looks like around 400k for that machine, and a build space good for anything joints/ attachments related. Then the rest of the skeletal system could be created using CNC to be possible and cut costs.

Hey James,

If you have an stl file of what you want to create for your Iron Man Boot project, please send them on to us and we can give you a ballpark figure as to what it might cost to print. Its a very interesting possibility and would be a good exercise for us to see if we can print similar models. You don’t have to have it printed, also, the finishing isn’t such a major consideration in the cost if the pieces are to be put inside the boot and aren’t visible. The intricacy is not a problem, nor is the strength. The MLab is our most expensive machine, hence the high cost of a print. We are also hoping to get our Objet Eden 260v up and running in the next 10 days which prints multiple materials and we’re perfecting a program to print combined/blended materials and/or graduated materials within a single print. Exciting times ahead!

Hi Chelsea, sorry I was super busy this week! I can’t seem to find your hub. What is your hub link?

Its unfortunate if you Google “Chelsea Rae” with “3D hubs” you don’t quite get your hub…

Hey James,

My hub is called Brian’s hub. Chelsearae is my daughter and user name and shouldn’t be the title, I’ll have to check it out! I’m based at University College Dublin in Ireland. Stay busy and don’t worry!
