This event, that took place yesterday, February 10th was a great success! I’d like to thank everyone who came out, and also those who brought their printers, you all made this event possible. There was a great turnout and I hope everyone who went learned something. There was a slideshow presentation covering the different materials, a few printers demoing the materials and plenty of sample prints and sample filament for people to take home.
The materials covered were PLA, ABS, NinjaFlex, Flex EcoPLA, Nylon, CrystalFlex / Bendlay, PET, T-Glase, WoodFill, BambooFill, CoconutFill, CopperFill and BronzeFill. I’ve included a few images of the event along with this post.
Anyone wanting to see the powerpoint for more information can view it publicly here.
The event went great and again, I’d like to thank every one who came out. Those of you who went, I encourage you to please leave comments on how you thought the event went. I’d like to know what you liked, what you didn’t like and maybe some themes / events you’d like to see in the future.
Cheers,

@Noah, thank you so much for presenting a great meetup and @Colin_6 for organizing!
Noah, what printer do you have and what are your top tips for printing with the Bronze & Copper fill filaments?

Hey Nikki, doing the event was my pleasure. As far as printing, the filled materials are a piece of cake. I was using my Prusa i3 and running it at 220 C, printing onto Blue painters tape cleaned with rubbing alcohol. Finishing however is a different story. I started by sanding the prints all over with a fairly rough grit sandpaper, 60 grit. Then I went over it with 400 grit sandpaper. Next I polished it to a shine with some steel wool. To add an aged affect, I spray painted it with black spray paint, then wiped the spray paint of immediately. This causes all the hard to reach nooks and crannies to turn black. Following that I shined it up again with the steel wool to remove any spray paint that had dried on the surface. I then applied some Brasso metal polish to the models and rubbed it in with a microfiber cloth. Finally I buffed the parts to a shine with a piece of denim. A very long process, but it yeilded great results.
