Hey Folks…

Yup, another newbie to 3d printing (more or less). I’m trying to clean up my marvin before submitting him, and I spotted this weirdness when looking at the bottom of the model and the layer steps in Simplify3D…

My marvin has curlicues on the bottom… and so does the model! What the heck? I don’t see this with other peoples marvin’s, so what am I doing that’s different/wrong? I swear, I don’t need a marvin that’s an evolution from a pig… :}

Thanks!

You don’t have support there so it is trying to print in thin air.

The loop is the first part of the ‘butt’. It seems to be a little a-symmetric but I don’t think it’s a slicer fault. It droops because it hangs in the air. If the design had a flat (horizontal) butt it will be easier to bridge, now it starts making the curved shape in the air.

Hey Nightram… yup, no support. According to the docs (how to print marvin) it doesn’t need it… which I thought was kinda silly, but hey… So you guys are all printing with support?

As a sample print you need to print it without support. If you want to print a bigger version you will need support.
