We believe, that one of the bottlenecks of consumer 3D printing is 3D modeling. Despite it is really easy to 3D print something, it is really hard to design functional, useful stuff. CAD systems are expensive and complex. This is why we started to work on Shapr3D. Shapr3D is an entirely gesture based 3D modeling app for iPad, that allows you to create precise, geometrical designs easily. What do you guys think? http://www.shapr3d.com
Ps.: we have a closed beta, you can sign up for access on our website!

Seems pretty interesting! How complex will the designs get with this one? Will you be able to model a Marvin with it?

Hey @Istvan_Csanady this looks like fun - thanks for sharing. @ydg54ymail have you tried it?

Quite complex. It is not a freeform modeler - meaning that you won’t be able to make a head, or a sculpture with it. If by Marvin you mean the comic character, well then the answer is mostly yes, but there are some parts (like his hand) that are freeform objects.
Here are some examples from thingiverse, that could be modeled with Shapr3D:
We made some studies that indicate that you will be able to make about 65-85% of the models on Thingiverse with Shapr3D.
As you can see these are mainly mechanical parts/functional objects. These kind of stuff can be easily modeled (super precisely!) with Shapr3D. The motto of the app is that modeling simple stuff should be easy, and complex stuff should not be impossible.
On paper seems like a great idea, I’ve signed up for beta and am curious to see how it compares to other free Cad software.
