I’m having some issues printing more intricate details. We use our printer for prototype parts, however most of the time we are more concerned with measurement tolerances rather than how “good” it looks(resolution, strings, etc.). But to get the most out of our printer I realize some costumers aren’t going to be so interested about the measurements as they are going to be concerned about the looks. So I’ve been doing some testing and the more detail I use the more trouble I have, but the simpler parts(squares with holes and thicker solid pieces) come out just fine. I’m sure there are some setting adjustments to be made.

Filament- PLA Green from MakerBot

Heated table-NO

Extruder Temp-210C

Chamber Temp-40C

Infill-50%

Shells(about .5 millimeters each)-4

Layer height-.1mm

Active Cooling-ON

Raft-ON

Print speed on detailed locations is 37mm/s but ranges up to 110mm/s on infill

It looks like a combination of over temperature and under extrusion

Make your outlines 15~12mm/s and make sure infill height is 0.4mm. Genuine Makerbot filaments work great at 215c (default temp). Make sure your printer is pretty steady and not vibrating. The stepping issues I see on the outlines are probably because of stretched belt, not too much but just a bit, like some wires inside the belt are disconnected at some points, if you print slower they should become less noticeable and smaller. Whenever you move the printer head by hand try to help the belt with your other hand. You can test this issue with fast diagonal moves, going back and forth, if it shakes hard at high speeds then that’s it, need a new belt (if no alignment issues).
