I just got my Maker Select v2 3D printer in. It seems to print good (I found a online wiki with some mods I need to do to get a better quality of print), but one thing I noticed is when it starts to print and when it finished, the bed moves all the way to the end and tries to continue to go father, thus causing a nasty vibrating sound (like the gears are skipping). Is that normal? Is it something to do with the configuration?
It does print in the middle of the bed correctly, so I’m not sure what it could be.
Check that your Y axis stop (the switch on the back left corner) is being depressed by the bed (and that you removed the tape from it). If it is (you should be able to see and hear it clicking when the bed hits it), make sure the wires are connected. Or when homing Y, randomly click the switch with your finger and see if the bed stops. If it doesn’t, there is some issue with it.
My gut feeling is that one of two things is happening. 1. The slicer settings you are using are not set for your printer (or equivalent printer) making the software think it has farther travel on that axis. Does your printer have issues zeroing before a print? (Any clicking sounds from the motors?) If it does not this may not be the issue 2.My second thought is that the limit switch that senses when the table has reached the end of its travel in that axis is broken or misaligned and only getting partially triggered when when it should be engaged. I would check its placement, fastener tightness, and the wire connections to and from it. Good luck let me know if these aren’t issues and I’ll continue to brood over it.
Also check to make sure that the cabling for the heat bed is not getting caught between the bed and the frame. I have had that happen in the past and it gives the grumpy noises you speak of.
I looked at the switch for the y axis shutoff and found that they’d put the switch in upside down. Took it off the mounting, turned it around (so the button was at the top not the bottom) and it worked perfectly!
