Hey guys my name is Justin, i am trying to promote my invention. it’s called the Low Filament Sensor. It’s a small device that is universal for most 3d printers, it will sound an alarm before you run out of filament. This will save your print and pay for itself by letting you use that little bit of filament on each roll.

i am selling them on my website here

I am also looking for distributors so if you would like to buy 10 or more i can give you a really good deal.

Hey Justin, I just ran across your filament monitors the other day. I am quite impressed and will be ordering one for my Duplicator i3. I picked up a pair of another brand sensors for my Creator Pro recently and am looking forward to trying your product on my i3.

Thanks again and keep up the great work!

25 dollars it a bit pricey for what it does and how it’s build.
I would expect it at that price to at least have an alarm for when filament gets stuck too.
it could maybe have a digital I/O pin connector to hook it up with a reprap/arduino type controller so it can pause a print in case of filament jam, break or when out of filament.
maybe an idea for your next prototype.

Great invention, but I prefer the Tunell filament monitor which works with mightyboard compatible printers running sailfish. It will auto pause prints when filament runs out or extrusion stops so you don’t need to be around to hear the alarm. Toybuilder labs sells them for $65 single and $90 double extruder. More expensive but definitely worth it. I regularly ruin prints for 3+ days and it never fails to save my prints.

I don’t get the point of this. The problem isn’t solved with a warning that it’s running out . the problem is seamlessly switching to a new roll of filament

Yeah, I made the same “invention” about 4 years ago with $2 worth of parts. I then moved on to hook it straight to RAMPS so it would automatically pause prints which was far more useful and took the cost down to 95 cents.

Nice! These are very useful little tools. I ended up making my own version & some attachments for different mounts and a filament oiler. Check it out here: https://engineerdog.com/low-filament-alarm/

That is great for folks that can do that. My printer is closed source for example, so Im not able to hack its system in that way. A simple alarm was good enough for my needs though.
