Love some help with a support issue

Hi there, running a Prusa i3, and using Repetier and Slic3r.

Only problem I seem to be having now is that if I print something that has an area that should be able to easily be bridged, but support material keeps being printed in the area. For example, a keychain where I create a hole for the key ring gets filled with material. I have tried to turn this off but can’t seem to find a setting that actually does it.

Once I slice the object, then I can see in the preview that there is support material being put in.

I don’t know that you can customize supports that way in slic3r. Slic3r Manual – Support Material In simplify3d you can manually add and remove supports as needed.
