Im looking for a extruder like the ones that make plastic but i want to use my already used plastic for a recycle kind of extruder, if I cant find one I will try to make one on my own I made my printer so why not.

Hey there @djake77. Kinda depends on the plastic. If it’s 3D printing waste, chances are you’ll be able to get one. The Strooder, from Omni Dynamics is worth a look. With any extruder, you’ll have to make sure sure the pieces are small enough - Say 5mm at the largest. There are one or two grinders available but they tend to be pretty expensive as the forces involved are quite high. You could try using a food processor with water to limit heating - I’ve heard that some people have had quite good results. Hope this helps.

the shredding of the plastic is quite another thing… i used a meat mincher attachment for a old kenwood food processor… it got hot and the filament took a grib on the auger and the gearbox broke.
my next attempt is a wood chipper… one of the small ones… i can rent them cheap and should be able to shred a lot in just one day
i prepare the failed prints by deep freezing them at work to -20 for 2 hours… then i take them straight to a cardboard compressor, that will crack the prints enough that they no longer propose a challange for the wood chipper
