Hello everyone,

I am just wondering if anyone is getting many enquires at the moment on their hub. I have had a remarkable slow down on my printing service. I have only received 2 enquires for the whole month.

At the end of last year I had so many enquires I had to pass people onto other print hubs. I would love to hear how everyone else is going with their hubs.

You are 100% correct. I also used to get a crazy number of orders here on the Gold Coast and I haven’t had a single order in a month. I’m putting it down to uni being on holiday. I find most of my work is for uni students who go back to uni in a month. Lucky for me we now also have a dedicated 3D hubs ambassador for Griffith on the Gold Coast.

I signed up about 3 weeks ago and have found the same thing. I haven’t had a single enquiry. My average position is usually around 8, and I have 600+ hub views. I’ve lowered my prices 3 times to try to get some interest.

Would love to know how many orders are being placed per month in Brisbane overall.

I’ve really beenjoyed trying to explain to people that screwing your prices down is such a shit idea. Through my website I charge 5-10 times what I charge on 3D hubs and get between 3-4 big orders weekly. You don’t realise how much work goes in to a big job through 3D hubs so why would you screw yourself by nothe charging enough. It’s really stupid.

I’ve had fairly constant work in Toowoomba for the last while, but I’m also offering design and prototyping. I just had an enquiry through to design and produce 400 chair-back things for a local church, I’ve got constant work with a local artist doing prototyping, and once I get my DLP back up and running that should also increase as his components get more detailed. Mind you, for clients with constant work I dial my costs right back, I do it to keep the machine running, 3D hubs and ongoing clients basically just pays for my material these days so I print personal stuff at no cost to myself. Having said that, I’m always looking for ways to expand both my business and capabilities

That’s sick. I run a similar setup to you with getting heaps of work through my website and advertising. I don’t really care if I don’t get orders through 3D hubs because generally they don’t pay much compared to the more custom design and prototyping stuff. I have just been looking at investing in a laser printer and dreaming about a polyjet printer. What DLP printer do you currently have?

Polyjet? Hope you’ve got approved for a mortgage. Connex3 is $400k

Muve v1.1. It’s just been a pain getting it going, Z height calibration problems. I’m looking at building a big rap soon too or a Pwder and am planning on ordering a peachy for the lols

Yeah I looked into it yesterday and realised it was a bit of a pipe dream. Looking at getting a Gizmo3D DLP printer. They look epic.

The price point is decent for the build area but I don’t know why they’re selling in USD. Looks good though, I’d be interested to see how they print as the video looks a bit funny but it could be an intentional program thing with that design of the ball.
