I’ve a problem with my printer and i can’t tell what is it, i’ve to tight the belt of plate axis (y), i’ve tried to modify the jerk, acceleration, return to the default setting, i’ve modified the extrusion width at the exact width it extruded, i’ve checked with a caliper, but the problem stay the same, i’ve used BEE supply PLA, BQ PLA, reprap PLA, same… i don’t understand what it can be, it’y especially on the Y axis, where the plate move, someone have this problem ? someone can help ?

Hi, which 3D printer do you have? I had more or less the same problem with my Prusa i3, and it solved after setting the PID. As it’s a regular problem, I think it has more to do with temperature settings, and the PID tells the printer how to heat the nozzle and bed in order to have a stable temperature. You can tune it using Cura, and there are lots of tutorials on the internet!

Do you think it’s about temperature ? because on x axis ( where the head move ) i have not really this problem, but where the plate move (y) the problem is more important, and the temperature didn’t change really the problem, i’ve PLA work well at 190, an another at 200, and 220, do you mean the temperature can move up and down and it can be this ?
haha yeah, it’s a good idea, i prefer to “modelise” for having exactly what is planed but it can be interesting to do it like this ^^
Surely if modelised it would do a better result, but for a quick and dirty filter…
hi, check if the cog of the motor is screwed on tightly, i had a similar regular problem when the motor cog was moving 1mm backwards and forwards and not fixed.

check your printer for any loose movement, this means get an allen key and secure the x y z cogs, then check if you got any play in all axis, then run the auto tine pid for at least 5 times and save settings to marlin , test that if still insolved check your extruder feedstock diameter and check the steps/unit in marlin is correct. also check and calibrate your extruder. mark 10mm on the filament and move it 10 mm than measure it.

Hi, the issue seems to be regular in Z axis direction…check if the wavy pattern match your z screws pitch…to me it looks like a bad z-wobbling.

what slicer are you using ? try using a different one , i mostly use slicer and cura for my prints , also check your configuration in the host .
I use Simplify 3D, wich with a Prusa I3 work well, because of this i don’t think it can be the slicer

From the pictures it seems to be present in every direction…you could try to print a small test cube(20x20x20mm) with the faces alligned to x&y axes and check if the issue affect some specific faces or if it is allround. I see something similar related to feedstock spires, but it happens with bigger objects when the spool is not mounted in bearings and/or with small core spools (under 80-100mm), the bigger spool core diameter, the less spires in the filament, specially near the end of spool…let us know!

I’ve had the same problem, I have a Prusa i3, my conclusion was that it was caused by the wobbling of the Z screw, because its not a precision screw. I tried several things attempting to fix it (like decoupling the z axis form the x axis), but didn’t work…the last thing I have to try is to replace the Z screws and the motor coupler with precision ones, but I need to get the new pieces first…if anyone knows of another fix, it’s greatly appreciated.

Thanks all for your reply, i apreciate it, i’ve now checked the mechanics, i’ve checked the tight of all belt, if the motors turn correctly, all is good, i’m now going to print cube 20*20*20mm in 0.2, 0.1 and 0.05 of layer heigh, i’ll post the result as soon i’ve finish them
as soon i’ve a solution, i’ll said to you how i’ve fixed it, hope it can help you
