Hello everybody, I am looking for help to print my first 3d file. The model I am talking about it attached to this thread.
So my problem is that I don’t know how to set up this model before sending it to the person that would print it for me. Could somebody help me by telling me what needs to be done in order to make it actually printable? I know I’ll have to add supports in order to make it possible to print the overhanging parts, but I have no clue of how to do so. Also, is the polygons count too high? I’d like to print it about 15 cm of height (the filament is 250μ per layer), is the level of detail too high and should I lower it?
Thanks to anyone that will reply!

Well, I took a quick look at this file, and while I personally don’t have experience printing these figures, I can say that it does have some problems. Meshmixer identifies quite a few problems, and if you try to auto repair, it removes a lot of geometry. I uploaded the file to the free Netfabb service instead, and it seemed to repair 99% of it. But there are still are some areas that will not print properly. There are surfaces that have no thickness to them, around the ‘skirt’ for example. Also I don’t think the ‘blades’ that protrude from the hand and arm that have a slot down the middle, will not print well. I imagine that .250mm layer height might be too high also, I would check on Thingiverse or MyMinifactory for similiar models and see what other people are printing them at. As far as the supports, you can add in the supports yourself, but I think this is usually done by the hub operator as it can be printer specific.
