Hi! I was trying to print struts using ABS. However, the ABS always curled at the end of each strut (as shown by the red arrow in the attached image). The first layer is the worst, and it got better as moving to the subsequent layers, but the problem still existed through the whole printing. I’ve tried to printed at 220C and 230C, and I also tried lowering the speed from 50 mm/s to 20 mm/s. I found decreasing the speed did help, but it still curled a little at the end. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

ABS struts curling issue

Wow, you have some issues I think. First a bed level and I think you are to close to the bed. ABS doesn’t seem to like as much squish as PLA.

What is the bed surface and prep? What printer and slicer? Slower can be better especially for the first layer.

230 is an ok temp. You might go 240 for the first layer but I can’t decide if it really helps.

Bed generally no more than 110 but lower would be better. Maybe start at 110 and drop to 100 or 95 depending.

NO fans!! Enclosed chamber for the printer.
