I’ve followed 3d printing for some time, from a distance. The possibilities are pretty mind boggling. Eeven in my hands for my own at home use the good times are unlimited. However, I have no idea where to start. I am connected to the modeling community. Also I’ve created and sculpted some very fine figures. I would need a machine capable of showing high detail at 1:35 SCALE, or smaller. Ideas suggestions?

Hi,

For such a small models with high detail I would suggest to go with a SLA/DLP printer. This kind of printers use a resin witch is in a tank and made solid by a laser (SLA) or with a(UV) light (DLP).

These printers are not cheap (2000-3000 USD) nor the materials (resins) for it, but the layers are can be really thin like 25 microns (0.025mm).

Take a look at Formlabs printers, and for an idea what printers can do just check their forums for prints:http://forum.formlabs.com/c/projects-prints

I would suggest to look for a HUB near you witch have a SLA printer and request a sample print.

For normal household usage I would suggest to use a cheap FDM printer (maybe a cheap kit from China).

Let me know if you need more information.

BR.,

Tamas
