I just got a new Anet a8 3d printer, and we finally got it all set up, but there were problems. when the left z-motor hit the switch, it would stop like it is supposed to, but the right z-motor kept on turning until we unplugged the 3d printer. We fixed that problem, and then the power supply popped and caught fire briefly. Does anyone know what’s going on before I buy a new power supply so it doesn’t happen again.

Hi,

Please double check the connections. This looks like the Z2-Motor is connected wrong. Because both Motors are driven by the same stepper driver, both should stop if they are connected correctly. If the second one is still turning, it looks like it’s connected to X or Y

or to the fan

These are different connectors and the fan output cannot make a stepper motor move ;)… So I hope he didn’t (somehow) connect it to the fan output

or maybe to the heater :))

Or directly to the power supply

oops

i missed that :frowning:

Thanks. I’ll check the connections. Anyione have an idea why the power supply would pop and catch fire?

It’s okay, it was a faulty power supply. We installed a new one, and got it working. The switch was too low, so it did not stop the second motor, so we bent the switch arm up, and it started working. Thanks for the advice.
