I left a print on over night (I made sure the first portion printed fine and the layers were sticking) but when I got back this morning I found this:

I tried to pull it off with pliers, but I don’t want to break any part of the machine. I was also trying to heat it up to pull it off easier but it didn’t seem to be doing much for me. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help in advance.

(The printer is a lulzbot Taz 6)

I would heat up your nozzle to 265-260C and then slowly and gently start pulling bits and pieces off.

You could also use a heat gun/hair dryer to help with the heating.

Be sure to wear gloves (for thermal protection) and goggles (sometimes pieces hot pieces come off, protect your eyes).

Hi

I have Never seen a print failure or jammed condition as in your photos.

There is not even One errant strand of filament as though maybe your z axis moved up to far.

What this looks like to me is that your Nozzle fell off!

You are very fortunate that the gob of plastic fits neatly between your fans without damaging them.

I think that following Zapaer’s suggestions would be your best bet.

Hmm, very impressive, as @Garyg said, it’s a very neat parcel of plastic you have there!

I’d perhaps be cautious about heating it excessively; it’s hard to tell but it looks like the nozzle is buried under at least 1cm of plastic in places and heating too fiercely might just melt locally around the nozzle and potentially cause a hazard. I might try heating to only 100 - 120C or so and leave it a good long time so that the heat spreads through more of the mass, you may then be able to pull it off in one go. Whichever way you do it, don’t leave it unattended while heating.

If heating doesn’t work, I guess it’s disassembly and a bath of acetone…
