"Hard To Remove Support" in Manufacturability Analysis

Hi everyone!

This is my first 3D printing project (and first 3D modeling attempt) and when I am going through the process on 3D Hubs to order, I come across this issue in the manufacturability checks: “Hard to remove support. Part contains hard to remove volume. Might affect surface finish.” with a grade of “Mediocre” as you can see in the attached image.

I built this model in Tinkercad, and hollowed out the objects as well as I could in there, and then added those holes in the bottom.

If someone could point me in the right direction regarding how to resolve this and turn the Mediocre into a Very Good, I’d appreciate it!

make it solid or remove one side completely

Maybe post some other angles, as we cannot see your model hardly at all from that view point.

Hollowing out models seems logical prior to printing, but when printing via FDM, hollowing your model often requires MORE material and increases cost. The reason being that FDM doesn’t print solid; it uses an infill that looks something like a honeycomb. This infill uses less material than support structures (generally speaking), doesn’t require manual labor to remove the supports, and looks better overall. Maybe try uploading a non-hollowed model and see if that looks better.

If printing via SLA, none of the above applies.
