Gluing PLA is already a difficult task, But gluing mirrors to PLA is even harder. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Gluing mismatched substrates is always a difficult task.

I tend to use West System 105 epoxy with different fillers to thicken it.

Since the epoxy will not exactly make a molecular bond with the PLA,

it might pay to sand the PLA with coarse sandpaper.

I think the mirror will bond solidly without any preparation other than making sure

it is clean with no finger print oil or other contaminates on it.

Glue is always a touchy subject because there is no perfect adhesive.

Sometimes, If the bond does not need to be very strong, I’ll use

LazerBond light curing glue.

I’ve had mixed results using Lazerbond.

It helps to have the PLA surface roughened with coarse sandpaper also.

I hope this helps you in some manner.

But I would first try Loctite 401. Hold it till it sets, it will hold both PLA and the mirror, I believe.

Believe it or not, this very pricey solution: xtc3d. It bonds to PLA, and is epoxy.

Three options, in order of bond strength:

- Superglue, one brand is loc-tite.

- a strong furniture glue, like Gorilla glue?

- hot glue
